 Labor Day, a federal holiday in the U.S., will be celebrated Mon., Sept. 2 to honor and recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements of the United States. Government offices in the Town of Rye and the Villages of Port Chester and Rye Brook will be closed as will most banks, the Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library, the post office (no mail delivery) and the Port Chester and Rye Brook Senior Centers. In Port Chester, Mon. garbage will be collected Tues., Tues. collections move to Wed.; the rest of the week is unchanged. No bulk or green waster collections this week. In Rye Brook, Mon. garbage will be collected Tues., Tues. collections move to Wed.; the rest of the week is unchanged. No green waste collections this week.

Port Chester and Blind Brook schools will open for the 2024-25 school year Tues., Sept. 3.
