The 1-0 Blind Brook Trojans basketball team got right back to work following their 41-36 win over Hastings on Wednesday, Dec. 4. The week of Dec. 7 was an important one for the Trojans, featuring three big games, including the home opener. The Trojans’ captains, junior Tyler Taerstein and senior Noah Brookman, have so far led the way, both getting over 10 points in the first game.
On Tuesday, Dec. 9 the Trojans welcomed Haldane into town for their first home game of the season. Blind Brook proudly showed up to support the boys as they quickly cruised to a 63-53 victory after a hot start. It was again Taerstein and Brookman leading the way; Taerstein put up 19 points with 11 rebounds, and Brookman scored 11 points and had four assists. Junior Sebastian Lim added seven, senior Nico Palacios scored 9, and freshman Ryan Brown put up 11. It was a good team win for Blind Brook to open the home schedule.
Three days of practice and rest later and the Trojans were back at it for a Friday night showdown. Woodlands came into town for a 6:15 p.m. tipoff on Dec. 13. Woodlands has been one of the strongest teams in Class B for a few years now, constantly being a top contender. After a back-and-forth game, the Trojans were able to pull out the 48-46 win. Taerstein had a monster performance, with his third double double of the season, featuring 26 points and 15 rebounds. Brookman added 12, with four more from Lim. The Trojan defense was the highlight of the game, shutting down Woodlands in the clutch.
The last matchup of the week was the one the Trojans had been waiting for--the Westchester County Center Classic against Pelham. Following the Westchester Knicks’ 107-95 win over the Greensboro Swarm, the Trojans took the floor. It was Blind Brook all the way, cruising past Pelham by a 60-52 score. Brookman had his best game yet, with 21 points. Palacios added 13, with an additional nine coming from Taerstein, five from Lim, and six from freshman Cooper Smith. The Trojans remain undefeated, with a 4-0 record leading Class B.
The undefeated Blind Brook Trojans boys’ varsity basketball team is off to a hot start, and they have two games remaining before Christmas break. They would welcome Croton-Harmon into town on Wednesday, Dec. 18 before closing out 2024 with a home game at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 against Hendrick Hudson High School.
