Westmore News has been a lifeline

While I congratulate the Abels on their retirement, I am sad to see our local newspaper will cease to be published. For those of us not on Facebook and non-cable subscribers (DirecTV needs a News 12 feed), the paper was a lifeline as to what was happening in Port Chester and Rye Brook. I have really missed the restaurant guide. I enjoy reading the sports section to see familiar faces of former Ridge Street School students who have grown and become pretty good athletes.
Thank you for upholding the First Amendment. Readers may not agree with some Letters to the Editor, but knowing this paper allowed them to state their opinion was never in doubt. I will also miss Dick Hubert’s column. I hope he can get a monthly column published in Westchester Magazine because he’s too vital to be silenced.
I would have been happy with a Port Chester/Rye Brook combined issue. Even a digital issue. But I guess that wasn’t meant to be.
