John P. Ibelli: Long career in pharmaceuticals

John P. Ibelli, 82, a 55-year resident of the Town of Mamaroneck, died Jan. 21, 2024.

He was born Aug. 30, 1941 to Anthony and Angelina (Barletta) Ibelli of Mt. Vernon.

He graduated from AB Davis High School, Fordham University (Bachelor’s) and Bernard Baruch College (MBA).

Mr. Ibelli began his long career in the pharmaceutical industry as a sales representative for Pfizer, followed by stints in the marketing departments for pharmaceutical behemoths such as Merck, Winthrop and Lederle.

He later held VP positions in several advertising agencies in NYC, including Suddler & Hennessy and Medicus.

In 1988 he started his own pharmaceutical advertising agency, BelMed Inc., which currently operates in New Rochelle with his son, a partner for over 25 years, running the business.

His love for his community, his family and his friends ran deep. He was an honorable man who possessed a quick wit, generous soul and could always be counted on in a time of need.

Mr. Ibelli served on the Mamaroneck School Board for 10 years and taught religious education at his longtime parish, Sts. John & Paul.

He was passionate about science fiction, broccoli rabe, politics and the NY Yankees, among other things.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Ann Ibelli (Pepicello), his brother-in law, John A. Gibb, a retired Port Chester firefighter, and sister-in law, Mary Ellen Kiley-Gibb, a retired longtime Port Chester parking enforcement officer.

He is survived by his wife, Kathleen M. (Kiley) Ibelli; cherished children, John A. Ibelli (Gina Giannantoni) and Patricia Vesey (Caleb); stepchildren Adrienne J. Chiappetta (Marco M.) and Andrea J. Nieves (Israel); grandchildren Gabriella, Gianni, Roman, Kiera, Isabella, Sophia and Kiley and brother Vincent Ibelli.

He was predeceased by his sister Grace Lividini.
