Letter: League of Women Voters seeks new board members
February 7, 2024 at 9:47 p.m.
There are currently openings on the Board of Directors of the Rye/Rye Brook/Port Chester League of Women Voters. The League is a non-partisan, non-profit organization that encourages informed and active participation in government. We work to increase understanding of major public policy issues through transparent and open discussion, education and advocacy.
Our local chapter is looking for new board members to invigorate and enhance our existing group as we work toward our goals. Areas of involvement include the organization of voter registration events, candidate forums and issue forums.
Our chapter also facilitates opportunities for students which include Students Inside Albany, where students are able to shadow local representatives, a student Civic Leadership course offered in collaboration with One World that brings area high school students together to develop a capstone project, and we also offer a Peter Larr Good Citizenship Award in the amount of $1,000 to area high school juniors.
Interested individuals are encouraged to send a letter of interest to the League via email [email protected].
Thank you for your interest.
