Blind Brook girls’ basketball is rolling into the postseason with two things on their minds: victory and redemption. The team—with a final record of 13-7–rounded out the regular season exactly how they now hope to move into playoffs, with a heartbreaking Homecoming loss against Croton-Harmon paralleling two single-digit losses to Westlake. Now, the Trojans have avenged the Homecoming loss in the last game of the season and are looking to bring the same energy as the five seed once again playing Westlake in the quarterfinals of the playoffs.

The Trojans traveled to Westlake on Wednesday, Feb. 7 for the game that would come to be a preview of the postseason matchup. Despite the misfortune of playing a Panthers team energized by their Senior Night crowd, the Trojans put up a strong fight throughout the match. Sophomore star Kendall Konigsberg scored 19 points for Blind Brook on top of five steals and a block. The final score—a 62-55 loss–left plenty of material for the Trojans to fire themselves up as they meet the Panthers once again in the playoffs.

The last home game of the season, a rematch against Pleasantville on Friday, Feb. 9, meant more to the Trojans than just win or lose; Blind Brook played to honor the 50 years of teams before them, as well as the program’s longtime diehard supporters Donny and Janey Konigsberg. In the game celebrating her own grandparents, Kendall recorded her strongest stats of the season, with a double-double of 28 points and 10 rebounds. Captain Kyra Mak and sophomore Ella Rosenfeld backed Konigsberg up with 14 and 13 points, respectively. After being up by only two points at the half, the Trojans pulled through in the fourth quarter to top Pleasantville 58-35.

To close out the season, Blind Brook traveled to Croton-Harmon on Saturday, Feb. 10 seeking to redeem their hard Homecoming loss to the Tigers. The Trojans did not disappoint in the highly anticipated rematch—especially after the resurgence they had in the second half of the original matchup. Konigsberg scored 24 points for the Trojans, nearly recording her second double-double in as many days with eight rebounds. Blind Brook wrapped up the regular season with a 41-36 win, hoping to ride the same energy into the postseason.

Konigsberg was voted as Lohud’s Girls’ Basketball Player of the Week, earning 77 percent of the vote, in recognition of an incredible week, consisting of multiple double-doubles and high scoring across the four games, three of which the Trojans won.

With a bye in the first round of the playoffs, the Trojans will meet Westlake, with the fourth seed, on the road at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20. With a win, the Trojans will move on to the semifinals at the County Center on Saturday, Feb. 24 against the winner of the Yonkers Montessori and Pleasantville/Dobbs Ferry play-in.
