George Chuckas: Award-winning swimmer

George T. Chuckas, 68, a resident of Somers and a former longtime resident of Port Chester, died peacefully Feb. 13, 2024.
He was born Oct. 1, 1955 in Brooklyn to Letitia Schofield Chuckas and the late Theodore Chuckas.
He graduated from Mamaroneck High School in 1977 and was a longtime member of Summerfield United Methodist Church in Port Chester.
In 1973, he was a medal winner in swimming in the New York Special Olympics.
Mr. Chuckas was known for his collection and passion for lighthouses and Star Wars; when you met him you didn’t forget him.
He is survived by his devoted mother Letitia Chuckas of Port Chester, sister Denise Elliott and her husband Jeffrey of Ridgefield, Conn., brother Thomas Chuckas and his wife Lynn of Norwalk, Conn., nephew Connor Elliott and niece Carly Elliott.
Funeral services were private.
