Rams bowler Trevor Sullivan returned to the team after school pressure limited his appearance to one match per week and showed how much his presence was missed by throwing a turkey (three strikes in a row) while leading the team with a 146 average for the match even though Port Chester lost to New Rochelle last Wednesday (1/17) at Bowlerland in the Bronx.

New Ro beat the Rams with a total wood of 1,898 to 1,024. But Sullivan came away as the Rams’ top scorer by bowling 132 in game one with four spares, a season high 201 in game two which included five strikes, a turkey and three spares, and 105 in game three with three strikes and two spares.

The Ram scorers

Other Ram high scorers included Tony Nievecela (110 average for the match) and Gabriel Cueto (104), while Nazir Demara averaged 92 and Alejandro Mojica and Franklyn Cando both averaged 87.

The Lady Rams were hurting because they were minus their two top bowlers (Skylar Sams and Nataly Garcia) and lost to New Ro by total wood of 1,570 to 1,197.

Sophia Maldonado led the Port Chester scorers with an 86 average for the match while Gioella Pastena (84), Lesley Santamaria (82), Jaresiah McDonald (74) and Liseth Zaruma (77) rounded out the scoring.

Missing Lady Rams

"It was great having Trevor back in the mix today," head coach Jeanine Maiolini said after the match. "He had a great day in all three games, bowled a strike or a spare in eight of the 10 frames and even had a turkey. But the girls certainly missed Sams and Garcia but did their best to step up and compensate. We just came up short. But some days, that's just the way it goes."

The days may go better in Port Chester's next two bowling matches on upcoming Mondays (1/29 and 2/5) against White Plains and Mamaroneck, both at 3:30 p.m. at Bowlerland. Especially if all the local bowlers show up.
