One may have looked at the Blind Brook student section on Friday, Jan. 26 and questioned whether they were at a basketball game or on the slopes. With fans decked out in ski gear and packing the stands, the two varsity Trojan basketball teams showed out for their most anticipated regular season games of the year: Winter Homecoming.

For the girls’ team, the Homecoming matchup against Croton-Harmon was a highly anticipated one. Prior to tipoff, the team’s two seniors, captain Kyra Mak and Veronica Pallotta, were honored with the beloved rose ceremony to celebrate their dedication. With the two teams neck-and-neck by the top of the Class B standings, the Trojans and Tigers squared off to set the record straight on the true powerhouse team of the league.

The Trojans’ started the game struggling to get past the Croton defense, entering the second half with few more points than they started the first with. However, with an energetic crowd and a new burst of energy, the team surged in the second half to narrow the margin drastically. Sophomore Kendall Konigsberg led the team with 17 points on top of Mak’s nine. Despite dominance during the second half, the Trojans could not overcome their deficit from the first, keeping the score to 47-37 Tigers.

Blind Brook did not have long to sulk about their Homecoming loss, playing in front of the same home crowd on Tuesday, Jan. 30 for a rematch of their first game of 2024 against Briarcliff. With the last game against the Bears a razor-tight, high-scoring win, the Trojans were eager to prove that they could not only win again but perform even stronger than before. Konigsberg had another day of absolute dominance, putting up 25 points against the Bears. She even nearly outscored Briarcliff’s whole team, who only managed 27 against the Trojans’ almost doubling 53.

The Trojans will play another game at home on Friday, Feb. 2, taking on Westlake for a 4:30 p.m. tipoff. To start the week, Blind Brook will stay at home on Monday, Feb. 5 to tackle Rye Neck, with the game once again starting at 4:30 p.m. Then, only five days following their previous meeting, the Trojans will this time travel to Westlake on Wednesday, Feb. 7 for a 5 p.m. game. Finally, the regular season will wrap up on Friday, Feb. 9 with one last home game against Pleasantville, back to a 4:30 p.m. start time.
