At the end of May I wrote in this column about an extraordinary eyesore at 123 Pearl St.—a fence surrounding the property that hadn’t been painted in years and often stopped me in my tracks during my weekly trips around the Villages of Port Chester and Rye Brook.
At the end of June, I received an email with a photograph attached showing the fence having been painted. Follow-up questions about when and how the painting came about were not answered, but no matter. Last week I drove by the house myself to make sure the fence had been painted and that it wasn’t a new fence, for instance, and took my own photos.
I didn’t see anyone around to ask about how and why the painting came about. But, no matter. I hope those living in the house, the neighbors and everyone passing by appreciate the effort. I know I do! If I had anything to do with the upgrade, fantastic!
There are so many people in Port Chester and Rye Brook who keep their properties looking immaculate and sprucing them up with gorgeous flowers and shrubs, even in the denser areas of town, because they take pride in how they look. To those residents, I say thank you. Your efforts do not go unnoticed and are also appreciated.
