Rams’ German and Blind Brook's Rogovic dual aces named to Lohud's '24 Westchester/Putnam All-Stars

They rank right up there in the 1-2 spots when it comes to the greatest games ever pitched in Port Chester and Blind Brook high school baseball history.
And now they have both been named to Lohud's 2024 Westchester/Putnam All-Star baseball team.
The pair of local pitching aces are Rams junior sensation Jordany German, one of the few non-seniors named to the team, and Trojans flame-throwing senior fast baller Andrew Rogovic, who made the team last year, won a baseball scholarship to Northeastern this year, and made the All-Stars this time around as a shortstop as well as pitcher whose last year was pretty much derailed by a blister on his throwing hand that limited his pitching opportunities.
Single most memorable games
As glittering as their performances have been all season long, their stellar careers will always best be remembered for a single game never to be forgotten.
For German, who led Section 1 in regular season strikeouts with 103, it will always be the season opening 2-0 home win over Saunders in which he struck out an incredible 20 of 21 batters while allowing just one base hit, a two-out infield bleeder in the last inning that the rival runner barely beat out.
For Rogovic, last year's League, Conference and Section 1 Pitcher of the Year, it will always be the way he pitched Blind Brook into the playoffs by recording 18 of the 21 outs by strikeout in a shutout home win over Croton-Harmon as a junior.
Latest stats impressive
While those two games ranked with their school's all time best, their performance during the past season ranked with the area's best.
German finished with a 5-1 record, a 1.24 ERA and 111 strikeouts, including eight in Port Chester's opening playoff loss. His coach Sean Burke said German gave Port Chester a chance against any team in Westchester and showed promise as an outfielder when he wasn't pitching.
Despite his injury to his pitching hand, Rogovic threw 94 miles per hour heat in attracting Major League Baseball scouts in his opening games, switched to shortstop when the blister curbed his pitching in the starting rotation and led the Trojans by hitting .348 batting leadoff. He came back by season's end and finished with a 0.00 ERA, 48 strikeouts and walked just 12 batters in 23 innings.
Star-studded lineups
The rest of the All-Star team includes a senior pitching rotation built around St. John's University-bound Tyler Renz of Fox Lane, Iona Prep's Matt Fitzgibbon and Marcel Kulick, Colin Spidal of Kennedy Catholic and Eastchester's Jake Warnock. The all-senior infield revolves around Tyler Castratoro of Mahopac, John Jay/Cross River's Nick Fassert, Kennedy Catholic's C.J. Griggs, Ossining's Michael Lebenson and Mamaroneck's catcher J.J. Grimes. The senior outfielders include Stepinac's Michael Weninger, Kennedy Catholic's Omar Girst and Mahopac's Tyler DeBrocky while Miami commit Devin Diaz, an Iona Prep sophomore, is also an outstanding catcher as well as one of the youngest All-Stars.
Key senior utility players include Eastchester's Jason Igalde, Rye Neck's George Katsaos, Rye's Shep Griffiths and Kennedy Catholic's Omar Girst while Iona Prep sophomore Julian Gusman also made the team.
That adds up to quite a galaxy of All-Stars. And German hopes to make the team again next year by adding even more glitter to his diamond resume.
