Debra Connie Vita, 69, died July 29, 2024 in Lithia, Fla.
She was born July 28, 1955 to Ernest and Betty Vita at United Hospital in Port Chester.
Debby was raised along with her three siblings, Jean, Bobby, and Gary, in Port Chester/Rye Brook, where she remained most of her life.
Shortly after graduating high school, she married and started her family, ultimately having two children, David and Danielle Ybarra.
She spent their formative years as a loving and caring stay-at-home mom raising them with the same values and beliefs with which she was raised.
Once her children were older, she decided to go to college and graduated from Iona to become a paralegal which she spent many years doing before retiring to Kissimmee, Fla.
In her earlier years, Debby spent every waking moment doing something for her children—whether it was a school function, ice hockey game, or a Girl Scouts meeting, she lived and breathed for them. She was the true embodiment of selflessness.
Debby had many hobbies throughout her life, but she loved crafting the most and was known for being able to create anything from nothing.
The only thing she loved more was family, as she spent many years building out her family tree, tracing her ancestors all the way back to the Salem witch trials.
She is survived by her children David E. Ybarra and his wife Carleen of Rye Brook and Danielle Ybarra of Kentucky; grandchildren David Ybarra, Jr and Jahdae Levy; brothers Gary Vita and his wife Sarah of Maryland and Robert Vita of Florida and sister Jean Merkle and her husband David of Stamford, Ct.
Funeral services will be posted on the funeral home website, www.craftmemorialhome.com, and condolences to the family may be left on the website as well.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to Paws Crossed Animal Rescue, 100 Warehouse Lane S., Elmsford, NY 10523; www.pawscrossedny.org
