The Port Chester Sustainability Committee and Port Chester Beautification Commission are delighted to announce that the Spring 2024 Green Awards have been distributed. Winners received a native salvia plant with bright blue/purple flowers that attract pollinators.

PortRush Coffee on Lower King Street received a Green Award for adding colorful planting boxes.

The awards went to a wide variety of recipients. Several homeowners received awards for creating beautiful plantings including native species and for creating pollinator-friendly and wildlife-friendly yards. Others were cheered for putting planters outside of fences, using steep slopes for plantings instead of grass, and growing their own fruits and vegetables.

Local businesses also received awards—PortRush Coffee (on Lower King Street) was applauded for adding colorful planting boxes. Edison School was awarded for their Memorial Garden which includes native plantings and for educating the next generation about the importance of pollinators.
