The League of Women Voters of Westchester County has announced that Early Voting for the 2024 Primaries runs thru Sun., June 23 at the Rye Brook Firehouse, 940 King St. Hours: June 21 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; June 22 & 23, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The Primary will be Tues., June 25, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at your regular polling location.

Anthony Marks of Rye Brook received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication & Information Sciences and Stacey Rosenfeld of Port Chester received a Master of Accountancy from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa at their Spring commencement.

Brianna Ardolino of Port Chester, who is majoring in Exploratory Studies at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury, was named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2024 semester. Full-time undergraduate students’ Dean’s List recognition is awarded each semester to full-time matriculated students with satisfactory completion of a minimum of 12 graded semester hour credits and a 3.5 semester average, with no “incompletes” for the semester at the time grades were processed. Also eligible are full-time students whose minimum 12 credits includes course work required in their programs of study that must be taken with a pass/fail option, excluding credits that do not count toward graduation, and whose semester average is 3.5.

Nicole Griff, Gwen Dominguez, Eve Tarascio, Ariana Da Silva, Jesse Montaleza Loja, Karen Pasato and Jessica Bolas, all of Port Chester, and Jeremy Doornick and Jing Cao, both of Rye Brook, have been named to the Spring 2024 Dean's List at the University at Albany. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must earn a grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 or higher in their first semester of study and a GPA of 3.50 or higher in subsequent semesters.

Cameron Davis of Port Chester earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering with Highest Honors from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta during the Institute's 266th Commencement exercises May 2-4.

Stephen Vumbacco of Port Chester, a member of the Class of 2027 at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa., was named to the Dean’s List for the Spring semester of the 2023-24 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive Dean's List recognition.

Stephanie Melgar of Rye Brook was named to the Dean's List for the Spring 2024 semester at Champlain College in Burlington, Vt. Students on the Dean's List have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the semester. Stephanie is currently majoring in Computer and Information Systems.

Ashley Cabrera and Michael DiZenzo, both of Port Chester, and Natalie Tempesta of Rye Brook, have been named to the Dean’s List for the Spring 2024 semester at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C. Full-time students must complete at least 14 credits in a semester, with at least 12 credits that have been graded on a letter basis, to be eligible. Part-time students must complete at least six credits during a semester.

James Gallagher of Rye Brook and Cinthya Tigre of Port Chester have been named to the Dean’s List for Spring 2024 at the University at Buffalo. To qualify for the Dean's List, full-time undergraduate students must demonstrate academic excellence by earning a grade point average of at least 3.600 while completing a minimum of 15 or more UB credit hours, of which 12 are graded (A-F) credits. Students are named to the Dean's List at the end of the fall and spring semesters.

Rachel Sosin of Rye Brook graduated with a BS in Behavioral Neuroscience and Michael Sunshine, also of Rye Brook, graduated with a BS in Business & Economics concentrating in Finance from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. in Spring 2024.

David Guamarrigra, Adetola Okunoye, Gianella Robles, Joana Sigua, Victoria Sosa and Bryan Vasquez, all of Port Chester, and Julian Slavin and Alyssa Trokie, both of Rye Brook, have been named to SUNY New Paltz Dean's List for the spring 2024 semester, a recognition for students who excel academically and earn at least a 3.3 grade point average in a semester with a full-time course load.

The next Port Chester High School Marching Band bottle and can recycling collection will be Sun., July 7, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in the Middle School parking lot on Bowman Avenue, Rye Brook. The DMV Mobile Unit will be at the Westchester Mall, 125 Westchester Ave., White Plains Sun., July 7, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. for residents to get their REAL ID that will be required by the federal government to board a domestic flight. A standard license will no longer be accepted; only a REAL ID or Enhanced License will be. For information about REAL ID and Enhanced Driver Licenses, go to dmv.ny.gov/REALID

The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles has launched the New York Mobile ID, a highly secure digital version of a state-issued driver license, learner permit or ID on a smartphone. The Mobile ID is a voluntary product designed for the convenience and security of New Yorkers and is available to IOS and Android users. Anyone who has a valid, state-issued driver license, learner permit or non-driver ID can download the secure Mobile ID app through Google Play or the App Store.

Westchester County Executive George Latimer announced the return of free Bee-Line Bus Rides for this summer from July 1-Sept. 2 on all Bee-Line buses including Para Transit. Fare-free service will provide residents and visitors with a convenient and cost-effective transportation option throughout the County. The Westchester County Clerk's Office has announced extended evening hours for their popular mobile passport services weekdays from 5-8 p.m. at 110 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., White Plains. The U.S. Department of State estimates standard passport processing times at 6 to 8 weeks and expedited at 2-3 weeks, with an additional charge. Remember to bring all necessary documents, like proof of citizenship (birth certificate, consular report of birth abroad, or naturalization certificate) and proof of identity (driver’s license or government-issued ID). For renewal applicants, there are specific guidelines to follow, and for minors under 16, both parents need to be present, unless specific conditions apply. Payment is by money order or check payable to the U.S. Department of State, plus a $35 service fee payable to the Westchester County Clerk (credit card, money order, or check). The 9/11 Memorial & Museum, located in the footprints of the Twin Towers in NYC, offers free admission exclusively to New Yorkers on the first Monday of each month, providing New Yorkers a special opportunity to see the Museum with one another and to reconnect with the feeling of community and cohesion that blanketed the city and nation in the wake of 9/11. Westchester County Executive George Latimer has announced the debut of the new Westchester Craft Beverage Trail and free online passport. The trail includes more than 24 distilleries, craft breweries and cideries throughout the region. A free, online passport for users 21 and older allows them to easily sip and savor their way across the County while earning rewards for fun items reflecting Westchester’s craft culture. Gov. Kathy Hochul has designated four more Free Fishing Days in New York this year: June 29 & 30, Sept. 28 and Nov. 11. During these days, the fishing license requirement is waived for freshwater fishing on New York’s waters. The Free Fishing Days program provides a great opportunity for aspiring anglers to try freshwater fishing for the first time or former anglers to reconnect with one of America’s favorite pastimes.

At Congregation KTI it is a Mitzvah (good deed) moment for all to help feed those in the community who are needy. All food collected in KTI’s ongoing drive is being given to the Salvation Army in Port Chester. Food requested includes cans of tuna, chicken, vegetables, beans and fruit as well as pasta, 10-16 oz. bags/boxes of white rice, snacks, shelf-stable milk, healthy cereals, macaroni and cheese and canned meals like Chef-Boy-r-Dee, chili, etc. The food can be left in bins in Leslie Brandeis Novack's driveway at 48 Meadowlark Rd., Rye Brook.
