Maureen E. McDonough, 90, a longtime resident of Rye Brook, died Mar. 9, 2024.
She was born Aug. 3, 1933, in County Kerry, Ireland to Thomas and Elizabeth Carmody Fleming, who predeceased her.
She was raised and educated in County Cork, Ireland, and attended nursing school in England, then moved to Port Chester.
She was married July 18,1959 to Peter McDonough, who died Apr. 30, 2005. They met in the Catskills and returned to Ireland for their wedding.
Mrs. McDonough was a nurse at United Hospital in Port Chester and went on to private duty nursing for many years.
She was a devoted parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Port Chester and a member of the OLM Mother's Club.
She is survived by her beloved children Dawn Cregan of Rye Brook, Patricia Keegan and her husband John "Jackie" Keegan of Scarsdale and Brian McDonough and his wife Daria of Ridgefield, Conn.; grandchildren Caroline Cregan, Sarah Weber, Andrew Cregan, Emily Cregan, Isabella McDonough, Peter McDonough and Olivia McDonough and one great grandchild.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers James Fleming, Michael Fleming, Patrick Fleming, Sean Fleming and sisters Johanna Murphy and Margaret Casey.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Fri., Mar. 15 at the Parish of Saint John Bosco (Our Lady of Mercy Church), 260 Westchester Ave., Port Chester, followed by interment at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Rye Brook.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her memory may be made to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, Tenn.
