Clay Art Center, 40 Beech St, Port Chester is presenting Around the World in Clay: a free after-school arts program for Port Chester public school students in grades 2-12. The program offers students the opportunity to learn about the history and importance of ceramics in different cultures around the world while giving each student the freedom to interpret and create themed projects using their own perspectives and imagination. The Home Delivered Meals Program was created to help seniors 60 and older who have been identified as “medically homebound,” lacking adequate support and the ability to cook and prepare meals independently due to a medical condition or physical disability. The purpose of the meal program is to help you maintain your health, nutrition and independence in order to continue living safely in your own home. If you think you may qualify for and benefit from this program, please contact the Port Chester Senior Center at 914-/39-4085.

Pleasantville’s Battle of the Bands submissions are due by Fri., Apr. 5 at midnight. Young area musicians who perform original music will compete for a slot to open the festival which is open to everyone from solo artists to full bands. Performers will compete before a panel of music industry judges Sun., Apr. 21 with the finals Sun., May 5. Three winning acts will be chosen to open each of the festival stages Sat., July 13. The next Port Chester High School Marching Band bottle and can recycling collection will be Sun., Apr. 7. 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in the Middle School parking lot on Bowman Avenue, Rye Brook. County Executive George Latimer and the Westchester-Putnam Workforce Development Board hosted an event at SUNY-Westchester Community College Yonkers for the County’s annual Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program which helps low- and moderate-income individuals and families eligible for the Federal Earned Income Tax Credit file their taxes for free. The program also provides help for people with disabilities, senior citizens and those for whom English is a second language. The program is operating thru Apr. 15 at locations in Westchester including the White Plains Career Center, 120 Bloomingdale Rd., 2nd floor, Mondays, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. by appointment only at 800/899-1479.
Playland Park has launched its Community Program, #OurPlayland. This initiative aligns with the vision that Playland is a place to gather, share and create new memories. Playland is calling on the community to be a part of the Playland Hometown Heroes Banner Program which will serve as a living tribute in the community to honor veterans, past and present, throughout Westchester County and beyond by displaying personalized banners along the waterfront boardwalk starting Memorial Day through Veterans Day.
