The Blind Brook boys’ lacrosse team has run away with three dominant wins in as many games during the past week.
The Trojans had their senior day and homecoming game this past Saturday, Apr. 27. The Trojans played Dobbs Ferry on the lower field.
In the match, the Trojans successfully secured the victory against the Eagles with a final score of 12-7.
The game was a display of skill, teamwork, and determination from both teams, but the Trojans pushed themselves much harder that day. The first half, as usual, was entertaining to watch because the boys showed from the start that they were ready to take on their opponent.
When the second half began, Blind Brook still had a lead and maintained it. The Trojans’ game strategy was a marked improvement over their past few games.
They showcased great ball movement and quick transitions on the field, leaving the Eagles struggling to keep up. There were many key players in this game who focused themselves and their teammates on winning not only for themselves but for the seniors.
Eighth grader Ethan Carey and sophomore Chase Katz both ended the game with two important goals and two crucial assists.
Senior Hudson McRedmond showed his energy during the game by scoring a hat trick plus one assist.
Tyler Taerstein had one of his best games of the season, ending with four goals and two assists, and another senior at defense, who is committed to play lacrosse next fall at Muhlenberg College, is Seth Low who finished the game with one goal.
Junior Zach Taerstein and senior Tomo Yamano each had one assist in the game.
Senior goalie Ethan Leland had a successful game as well, bringing the ball all the way up the field multiple times through a throng of Dobbs Ferry defensemen. He ended up saving 21 shots and only letting in seven.
Coach Jason Einaugler expressed the importance of staying focused and making the most of every opportunity throughout the match. He coached like the score was 0-0 throughout the game and didn’t stop pushing his team.
During halftime, even when the Trojans had the lead, Coach E proceeded to give his powerful talk to the boys and did not let them lose control.
10-1 victory over Edgemont
The Trojans next played on Monday, Apr. 29 at Edgemont.
The Trojans took home the win against the Panthers, clobbering them 10-1. The game, however, only lasted one half due to thunderstorms.
Blind Brook overall didn't have much competition in this match and got to play differently than their usual playing style. The team was able to substitute different players and execute practice plays they would not traditionally use.
The game did end with a victory and on top of that the players got to act as if it was a scrimmage due to their high score compared to that of their opponents.
Carey got one goal and one assist. Hudson McRedmond scored three goals and two assists. Michael Berman-Annunziata got two goals and three assists. Chase Katz scored one goal and one assist. Tyler Taerstein tallied three goals and two assists and Martin Otero got one assist.
Leland had another successful game as goaltender, blocking around 21 goals and only letting in one.
The boys continue to have fun on the field but remain focused and stick to outworking their opponents.
