The Blind Brook boys’ lacrosse team has experienced an unexpected setback after a promising start to their season. The Trojans kicked off the season with a solid record, including a winning streak the past few games that showcased their potential.

They have now lost their last two games, bringing their overall record to 6-5.

The team started off on a high note with impressive victories against some tough opponents. Their coordination and strategy on the field have been key when they are playing, making them one of the top contenders in their league.

However, recent games against Bronxville and Hendrick Hudson have proven to be challenging and set them back.

In their latest game against Hendrick Hudson on Friday, May 3, Blind Brook fought hard but ultimately lost 11-5.

Seniors Hudson McRedmond and Michael Berman Annunziata ended the game with one goal each. Berman Annunziata also came away with an assist.

Tyler and Zach Taerstein each had one goal and one assist.

And, lastly, Tomo Yamano ended the game with one goal and one assist as well.

Despite their efforts, the Trojans were unable to come out on top during their match against Hen Hud.

The previous game against Bronxville on Thursday, May 2, also ended in defeat for the Trojans, with a final score of 18-8.

The team struggled to maintain their early-season form, missing opportunities.

The Trojans kept the game interesting nonetheless by scoring on Bronxville multiple times through different strategies each man on the field contributed to.

Berman Annunziata scored one goal. Hudson McRedmond ended the match with three assists.

Sophomore Chase Katz had one goal as well and sophomore Tyler Taerstein had four goals and one assist. Zach Taerstein tallied two of the eight goals for the Trojans and Robby Carey had one assist.

Although the game ended in a loss for the Trojans, it was not unexpected. In fact, they performed well against the superior Broncos.

The losses are just another setback for the boys and will not get in the way of their flaunting their potential.

Goaltender Ethan Leland played well in these two games. He saved 21 shots on goal in each game but let in many goals for the opposing team as well. His self drive helped the Trojans stay in the game and have some opportunities for themselves. He played a big part in the team’s overall performance and helped them maintain a respectable score.

Coach Jason Einaugler remains focused on the team’s future.

"It's always going to be tough to face setbacks, but we're using these losses as learning experiences to outwork everyone," he said. "The boys have shown great determination and are focused on bouncing back in the rest of our upcoming games."

These words from Coach Einaugler helped the team overcome their losses but made them realize they need to fix certain flaws on the field.

Blind Brook still has a few opportunities to turn these two upsets around.

They would face New Rochelle after press time on Wednesday, May 8 away and will play Albertus Magnus on Friday, May 10 at home this week, hoping to break their losing streak and regain their winning momentum. After that, the Trojans have just two games left in the regular season, both away. They will play Byram Hills on Saturday, May 11 at 3:30 p.m. and Irvington on Tuesday, May 14 at 4:30 p.m.
