The Blind Brook Trojans were coming off an impressive weekend in the Port Chester Anthony Foust Tournament, beating Sleepy Hollow before losing to Port Chester in the championship. The boys are in the final stretch of the season, hoping to rack up a few wins and get a playoff spot.

The Trojans, who sat with a 3-10 record, have faced a plethora of obstacles this season. Pitchers Andrew Rogovic and Asher Toll, struggling from injury for the first half of the season, was a big loss, along with the relocation to a new home field at Port Chester’s Recreation Park in the middle of the Blind Brook turf checks not being approved. However, the boys have started to adapt, and things seem to be turning around as their two star pitchers are now returning.

The Trojans traveled to Westlake High School on Monday, Apr. 29 for game 1 of a 2-game series. After taking an early 2-1 lead, the game was postponed in the second inning, shortly after a downpour of rain began. This game would not count in either team’s record, therefore leaving Wednesday to be the deciding factor on who would take the series, now a 1-game set.

The Trojans felt good going into Wednesday’s home game against Westlake, happily welcoming Rogovic back to the mound. He hadn’t pitched since the first game of the season due to a finger blister on his right throwing hand. Rogovic took the Trojans through four innings, allowing no hits, no runs, and recording five strikeouts. Zach Schneider relieved him, and finished the Trojans off, only allowing one earned run, with another being cashed in from the Wildcats due to an error.

The Trojans’ offense dominted, with Rogovic, Robbie Cuesta, Elliot Zwicker and Julian Sauer all picking up hits. Toll went two for four with an RBI, and Daniel Glantz picked up two hits as well, recording four RBIs. The Trojans blew past the Wildcats and picked up an 8-2 win, upgrading their record to 4-10.

A day later, Thursday, May 2, the Trojans found themselves at the home of the Pleasantville Panthers, who had an impressive 11-5 record. The freshman duo took over the mound. Daniel Glantz started the game off, taking Blind Brook through 4.1 innings, with Alex Schneider pitching 1.2 innings. The Panthers put up five earned runs, with an additional one knocked in through an error, and the Panthers had six runs on Blind Brook. Despite a solid hitting game, the Trojans were not able to convert runs in when it mattered. Rogovic and Zach Schneider both went two for four, Cuesta went three for three, while Glantz, Alex Schneider, Nick Violino and Sauer all picked up additional hits. However, all 12 of the Trojan hits only resulted in two runs being scored, and the Trojans fell to the Pleasantville Panthers 6-2.

The Trojans are in a rough spot in Class B, sitting in 12th place, only above the 1-6 Woodlands team. They have five games remaining, starting with Pawling, on Monday, May 6. They would face Pleasantville at home the next day, then travel to Westlake and Horace Greeley on May 8 and 9 before closing their season out at Hastings on Monday, May 13 at 4:30 p.m.
