Budget votes and School Board Member elections will be held Tues., May 21, 7 a.m.-9 p.m. for both Blind Brook and Port Chester school district residents. Voters in the Blind Brook school district will cast their votes in the BMP Ridge Street School old gym. Port Chester residents will vote at their assigned school district polling locations at one of the four elementary schools. Voters will vote “yes” or “no” on the 2024-25 budget. School board elections are uncontested in both districts.
A Blind Brook High School Science Research Symposium will be held Thurs., May 23, 7-9 p.m., 840 King St., Rye Brook. At 7 p.m. in the Auditorium there will be a slide presentation of original research by four award-winning seniors. At 8 p.m. in the Commons there will be poster presentations by Honors Science Research students (grades 10-12) & Introduction to Science Research students (grade 9). www.blindbrook.org
Blind Brook and Port Chester schools will be closed Fri.-Mon., May 24-27 for the Memorial Day weekend.
The Rye Brook Seniors, 32 Garibaldi Pl., is offering an outing for lunch and a stroll on City Island, Wed., May 22. Bus will depart AJP at 11 a.m. $2. To register, call 914/939-7904.
DPW Day 2024 will take place Sat., May 18, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at 82 Fox Island Rd., Port Chester. There will be demonstrations, education, giveaways, activities, tours, touch-a-truck and more. The first 100 children who visit will receive an official DPW water bottle while supplies last; limit one per child.
Colorblast 2024 will be held Sat., May 18, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. outdoors at Crawford Park, 122 N. Ridge St., Rye Brook. The event supports pancreatic cancer research and is a celebration of color with DJ entertainment, games, raffles, henna and vendors with food to purchase. Port Chester’s 156th Birthday will be celebrated at an Open House Sat., May 18, 1-4 p.m. at the Bush-Lyon Homestead in Lyon Park, 479 King St. There will be tours of the Homestead, paintings from the book “Painting 10573” by Alison Nicholls, a mini exhibition about High Point Hospital, high school yearbooks, a “please touch these items” table of historical objects and snacks.
The Village of Rye Brook will host a Scavenger Hunt in Pine Ridge Park, Latonia Road, Sat., May 18, 5-7 p.m. for 5- to 12-year-olds. MAPSpace (Miranda Arts Project Space), 8 N. Pearl St., Port Chester, is presenting Ephemeral Bloom thru May 19.
