The Annual Memorial Day Ceremony at Rye Town’s African American Cemetery will be held Sat., May 25 at 10 a.m. at the cemetery behind Greenwood Union Cemetery, 215 North St., Rye.
Memorial Day, a federal holiday in the U.S. to honor and mourn the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, will be observed Mon., May 27. Government offices in the Town of Rye and the Villages of Port Chester and Rye Brook will be closed as will the post office, most banks, the Port Chester and Rye Brook Senior Centers and the post office; no mail delivery May 27. The Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library will be closed Sat. & Mon., May 25 & 27. In Port Chester, Mon. garbage will be collected Tues.; Tues. garbage and recycling will be collected Wed.; Wed.-Fri. collections are unchanged. There will be no bulk trash or green waste collection this week. In Rye Brook, Mon. collections move to Tues.; Tues. collections move to Wed.; Wed.-Fri. collections are unchanged.
