The Annual Memorial Day Ceremony at Rye Town’s African American Cemetery will be held Sat., May 25 at 10 a.m. at the cemetery behind Greenwood Union Cemetery, 215 North St., Rye.

Memorial Day, a federal holiday in the U.S. to honor and mourn the U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, will be observed Mon., May 27. Government offices in the Town of Rye and the Villages of Port Chester and Rye Brook will be closed as will the post office, most banks, the Port Chester and Rye Brook Senior Centers and the post office; no mail delivery May 27. The Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library will be closed Sat. & Mon., May 25 & 27. In Port Chester, Mon. garbage will be collected Tues.; Tues. garbage and recycling will be collected Wed.; Wed.-Fri. collections are unchanged. There will be no bulk trash or green waste collection this week. In Rye Brook, Mon. collections move to Tues.; Tues. collections move to Wed.; Wed.-Fri. collections are unchanged. No green waste collection this week.

Blind Brook and Port Chester schools will be closed thru Mon., May 27 for the Memorial Day weekend.

There will be Memorial Day ceremonies in Port Chester Mon., May 27 as follows: 8 a.m. at the Port Chester Marina; 8:35 a.m. at William James Park; 8:55 a.m. at Lyon Park Vietnam Memorial; 9:15 a.m. at Summerfield Park, Spanish American War Memorial; 9:40 a.m. at the Pearl Street Civil War Memorial; 10 a.m. at the American Legion, 78 Pearl St.; 10:15 a.m. at Fire Department Headquarters, Westchester Ave.; 10:45 a.m. at Crawford Park Korean War Memorial and the main ceremony at 11 a.m. at Veterans’ Memorial Park, Westchester Ave. and N. Regent St.

A parade down Westchester Avenue to New Broad Street will follow the 11 a.m. ceremony.

A Village of Port Chester Town Hall Meeting will be held Tues., May 28 at the Knights of Columbus, 327 Westchester Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m. There will be a discussion about Village Parking Concerns: Commercial Parking and Parks & Recreation: Park Operations & Quality of Life Initiatives. Clay Art Center and Neptune in June will present the Second Annual Port Chester Arts Festival Sat., June 1, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. throughout Port Chester.
