The 2024 Veterans Day Ceremony will be held Sun., Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. at Veterans’ Memorial Park, Westchester Avenue and N. Regent St., Port Chester. All local and county officials have been invited to attend. Everyone is welcome.

Veterans Day is a U.S. legal holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars. It will be observed Mon., Nov. 11. In 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in World War I, then known as “the Great War.” Government offices in the Town of Rye and the Villages of Port Chester and Rye Brook will be closed as will most banks, Port Chester and Blind Brook schools, the library, the Port Chester and Rye Brook Senior Centers and the post office; no mail delivery. In Port Chester, Mon. garbage collections move to Tues.; Tues. collections move to Wed.; Thurs. & Fri. collections are unchanged. No bulk or green waste collections this week.
