Debra Ann "Debbie" Piper, 64, of Greenwich, Conn., a cherished wife, devoted mother, and beloved friend, died Nov. 13, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Debbie was born Apr. 17, 1960, at United Hospital in Port Chester to William and Jean Washburn Mazurak, Sr., who predeceased her, and was raised and educated in Greenwich, graduating from Greenwich High School.
Later, she pursued her passion for animals by earning a degree in K-9 grooming from the Edwardian School of Dog Grooming and worked as a dedicated K-9 groomer at Norwalk Veterinary Hospital and The Boarding House, where her gentle spirit and skillful hands were admired by both pets and their owners.
On Nov. 30, 1991, she married the love of her life, Richard "Ricky" Piper, at Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church in Greenwich; together, they built a life filled with faith, love, laughter, and unwavering kindness.
Debbie’s greatest joy and blessing was raising her three beautiful children, whom she adored.
While her children were growing up, she was an active and dedicated member of the PTA and devoted countless hours to her children's schools and interests, where her enthusiasm and commitment made a lasting impact.
She had a gift for telling jokes and spreading joy, making those around her feel warm and welcome.
She was a devoted parishioner at Saint Paul RC Church in Greenwich and a past member of the Women’s Guild where she found community and comfort.
Debbie is survived by her loving husband, Ricky Piper, Sr. of Greenwich, a longtime Port Chester business owner and member of the Port Chester Fire Department; her beloved children, Ricky Piper, Jr. of New York City and his girlfriend Caroline, Jeana McKay and her husband Drew of Essex, Conn. and Anna Skelley and her husband Connor of Phoenix, Ariz.; her brothers Bill Mazurak of Greenwich and Gary Mazurak and his wife Leigh of Deltona, Fla.; her sister, Linda Mazurak of Plainfield, Conn.; her father-in-law, Ronald Piper, Sr. of Dover Plains, N.Y.; her sister-in-law, Pam Piper of Copake, N.Y.; brothers-in-law Ronald Piper, Jr. and his wife Chrissy of Copake, N.Y. and Robert Piper and his wife Brenda of Copake, N.Y. and several nieces and nephews.
Debbie's passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her; her laughter, love, and selfless spirit will be missed, but her legacy of kindness and warmth will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Nov. 18 at Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church in Greenwich followed by interment at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Greenwich.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Saint Paul RC Church in her memory.
