Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, begins Fri., Nov. 1 and continues for 5-6 days. It symbolizes the spiritual "victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance." During the festival, celebrants illuminate their homes, temples and workspaces with diyas (oil lamps), candles and lanterns. Another aspect of Diwali is remembering your ancestors.
