Judith (Smith) Ruvo, 87, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Port Chester, died Sept. 3, 2024 from natural causes.
She was born Sept. 27, 1936, to Julius and Verna (Locke) Smith, grew up in Greenwich, Conn. and graduated from Greenwich High School in 1954, where she enjoyed sketching, painting and was an avid follower of roller derby.
She married Angelo Ruvo, well known in Port Chester as “Ruvo the Barber,” who died May 15, 2020 after 61 years of marriage.
They raised their family in Port Chester where they resided until moving to Arizona in 2018.
Mrs. Ruvo is survived by her sons Robert and Richard (Mary Anne), daughter Debra (Kevin) and brothers Donald and David (Angela) Smith.
She enjoyed doting on her grandchildren Christina, Michael, Justin, and Sonny.
Her family and friends will always remember her as an outspoken, hard-working, and generous person.
She worked for several years at Gannett Westchester Newspapers and enjoyed being an accountant in her later years.
She was often the host of large holiday dinner parties where she could be found in the kitchen, cooking and baking up a storm.
Mrs. Ruvo was a lifelong fan of the New York Yankees and a devoted and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was laid to rest with her husband in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association as a memorial gift.
