PCYBL Pirates off & runnin' in fall baseball season by taking 2 games in a row from Rye Brook Rebels

What a difference a season makes.
The Port Chester Youth Baseball League 9U Pirates, 1-11 during the summer Greater Hudson Valley Baseball League playing up against some of the league's best D-3 teams, moved up to D-4 for the fall season and started off by winning their first two games by pounding out 16 hits in eight innings and outscoring their opponents 29-10 for the opener.
Beat up on the Rebs
The Pirates beat the Rye Brook Rebels 9U team 16-7 away and downed the Rebels 9U Grey team 13-3 at home in Lyon Park last week.
And they looked good doing it because there was no stopping their steal.
The larcenous Pirates stole 53 bases in the two games "and we are going to run until teams stop us from running," according to head coach Frank Nunziato. "Because we have a very athletic team."
Pirates hot hitters
The hot-hitting Chase Steers has yet to make an out. Vincent Nunziato is batting .750 and hit a grand slam Monday (9/9) against the Rebs Grey team and Matteo Furcayg is right behind him hitting .600. Newcomer Levi Pirzinger has made an immediate impact and moved quickly into the starting lineup.
But Nunziato and assistant coaches Rich Ramos and David Furcayg have a wealth of talent to choose from with a deep roster that includes Nicholas Testerman, David Horwitz, Logan McLaughlin, Matteo Furcayg, Luke Varbero, Ryan Ramos, Max Harris and Dominick Nunziato as the bat boy.
"We're regaining our confidence and are back on a winning track," according to Nunziato.
They hope to keep running on that winning track starting with a doubleheader away against Heat Baseball at Macy Park in Ardsley Saturday (9/14) at 9 and 11 a.m.
