A Town of Rye Community Clean Up will take place Sat., Sept. 14, 9-11 a.m. Service hours are available for this family-friendly event to which everyone is invited. Wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, bug spray and sunscreen and bring trash grabbers, gloves, etc. Rain date: Sept. 15. Clay Art Center, 40 Beech St., Port Chester will offer Clay Printmaking with Jane Matthews Sat., Sept. 21 & Oct. 5, 2-5 p.m. Students will learn the fundamentals of printing on clay. Week #1 will concentrate on creating the design and how to transfer it onto linoleum. After making the slabs students will print onto them. Week #2 will be a chance to get creative with surface design through uses of oxides, underglazes & glazes. Firing fees are not included. $130 for the two sessions; Around the World in Clay, a free after-school clay program for Port Chester public school students in grades 2-12. Classes meet Sept. 30-Dec. 19. This program teaches students about the history and importance of ceramics in various cultures around the world, while also giving each student the freedom to interpret and create themed projects using their own unique perspective and imagination.
