December 28, 2017 at 8:13 a.m.
Pet Rescue associates and adoptable puppies receive a $615 honorary check and seven boxes of pet supplies from Port Chester Middle School physical education teachers Melissa Piccola (right), Michael Bonanno (left) and Principal Patrick Swift from the “Presents for Pets” fundraiser in the middle school auditorium on Thursday, Dec. 21.
Pipi, a 2-year-old Terrier, Pitbull and Pomeranian mix, stands on two feet with her owner, Melissa Piccola, a physical education teacher at Port Chester Middle School who co-organized the fundraiser. Pipi is the winner of the teacher-enrolled cutest pet contest.
Xiomara Moore, a sixth-grader, and Giovana Tieni, a psychology intern at the middle school, fell in love with Tommy, a 3- to 4-month-old Black Lab.
Bonnie, a 1-year-old Husky mix looking for a home with Pet Rescue, is overwhelmed with excitement over the toys and students to play with.
Food, treats, toys and pet supplies align across the auditorium stage before Pet Rescue puppies come in to relish their presents.
Five-year-old Archie is enjoying love from all angles by eighth-grade students Catherine Reyes (left), Judith Castillo and Natasha Marroquin.
Tucker, a 3- to 4-month-old Black Lab dressed as Santa, is being such a good boy while waiting for a treat.

A group of middle school students help pack away pet toys and supplies for Pet Rescue as the organization and puppies get ready to leave.
