Thanksgiving run for fun
November 24, 2017 at 6:53 p.m.
Runners register for the Tamarack Tower Foundation Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot.
David Hartman of Argyle Road runs with his dog Scout, a Golden Doodle, in the Tamarack Tower Foundation Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning with runners of all ages behind him. David has been participating in the annual Turkey Trot, which starts and ends at the flagpole behind Port Chester High School, for several years.
Three-year-old Derek Lovallo of Halstead Avenue pulls his cousin Francesca Sileo, 15, in a wagon before the walk/run because she had sprained her ankle while Derek’s father John looks on.
Jessica Ramirez of Rye Brook, wearing a turkey hat, pushes her son Mason, 3½, and daughter Peyton, almost 2, in a stroller in the race and is accompanied by her dog Zeland, a Vizsla. She was among the more than 200 who walked or ran the course and in so doing contributed to the Tamarack Tower Foundation which raises money for the Port Chester public schools.
The Lovallo family won the prize for having the most participants at 14. A few had scattered before the photo.
More than 200 walkers and runners take off from the starting line adjacent to the flagpole behind Port Chester High School. Leonard Pietrafesa of Quintard Drive (in front left of middle wearing red) finished the 3.5K race second while Phil Falk, who grew up in Port Chester and now lives in Manhattan, came in first with a time of 16:07.
The Feist family of Rye Brook all took part in the Turkey Trot. They are Jeff, Lauren, Trevor, 8, and Wyatt, 10. Jeff works for Arctic Mechanical which was the lead sponsor of the event.
