A taste of Christmas with breakfast
December 20, 2018 at 9:53 a.m.
After waiting in line with hundreds of other kids at the annual Breakfast with Santa at the Don Bosco Center on Saturday, Dec. 15, Kaitlyn Salcedo’s priority is giving Santa, played by Nick Mecca, a big hug. Meanwhile, Santa’s elves Logan Massa, 7, dances to holiday music while Corpus Christi-Holy Rosary School seventh-grader Nicholas Santiago Massa waits to give the Park Avenue School second-grader candy.
Santa’s little helper, played by Logan Massa, lets out a big yawn while jingling his bells. It was a long day for the 7-year-old, as Breakfast with Santa featured two back-to-back sessions for the first time.
Before meeting Jolly Old Saint Nicholas, also known as Nick Mecca, 2-year-old Port Chester resident Alaysha Molina put on the perfect Santa shirt to match.
Don Bosco Center Executive Director Ann Heekin and regular volunteer Sebastian Cobb, a Riverside, Conn. resident, are so excited they were able to help around 640 children enjoy the holidays.
Eager for his row of tables to be called up for the Santa line, John F. Kennedy Elementary School second-grader James Rodriguez waits patiently with his mother Milvia.
Volunteering for the morning with the Port Chester High School Key Club, junior Corey Heckel folds up chairs after visitors are finished with breakfast.
Clutching her bright red present, John F. Kennedy fifth-grader Aracely Sanchez can’t wait to find out what Santa gave her for Christmas this year.
