Governor swears in new county exec
January 11, 2018 at 8:08 a.m.
Governor Andrew Cuomo swears in George Latimer to his first four-year term as Westchester County Executive as Latimer’s wife Robin holds the Bible during his inauguration ceremony at Westchester Community College on Sunday, Jan. 7. The auditorium was filled, and many people were forced to watch from an overflow classroom.
Among the crowd on hand to witness this historical event was this contingent from Port Chester. From left: Marcella Kissner, Doris Bailey-Reavis, John Reavis and Tom Kissner.
Sunday’s ceremony was filled with pomp, circumstance and bagpipers from the Pipes and Drums of the Police Emerald Society of Westchester. From left holding their hands over their hearts while the pipers play are Congresswoman Nita Lowey, who served as MC, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, George Latimer and County Clerk Timothy Idoni.
Rye Town Supervisor Gary Zuckerman, attending with his partner Elaine, was one of the plethora of elected officials who came to Sunday’s event which turned out to be not only an inauguration but a Democratic rally to keep the troops fired up for November 2018.
