Night of Pageantry exhibition features ghouls, jazz and gypsies
April 11, 2019 at 8:36 a.m.
Unaware that they’re surrounded by evil spirits, Port Chester High School freshman Ivan Lopez (left), middle school eighth-grader Elia Mateus and freshman Gaby Flores look like a happy family before the haunting begins. The PCHS Marching Band Winter Percussion members are performing the horror movie-based MAC championship winning show “The Uninvited” during the Night of Indoor Pageantry in the Port Chester Middle School Gym on Wednesday, Apr. 10.
Senior Mario Flores fervently executes a solo on the saxophone during the jazz band performance.
Standing with discipline at the edge of the group, junior Anthony Cortese plays the quads as the drumline demonstrates their warmup exercises.
Despite her scary makeup for the Winter Percussion show, high school senior Alondra Gamez makes beautiful music on the vibraphone.
As the jazz band provides showy tunes in between other performances, senior Ryan Heffernan spouts a groovy solo on the baritone saxophone.
Ahead of other coordinated color guard dancers and a whimsical forest backdrop, freshman John Ceruzzi strikes an elegant pose. The flag yielding Winter Guard members are performing their show “The Night the Gypsies Came.”
Junior Linsey Co (left) teaches middle school eighth-grader Juliana Lopez a few scales on the xylophone, while encouraging her about being a natural. After the showcase, band members hosted clinics for other students interested in learning more about music.
