Students create connections through in-class demonstrations
October 24, 2019 at 6:16 a.m.
With closed eyes, first-grader Carly Katz runs her hand across a sheet of paper on which she spelled out her first name in braille using felt dots on Tuesday, Oct. 22. All grade levels at Bruno M. Ponterio Ridge Street School participated in activities during Creating Connections, a weeklong program that strives to teach students about inclusivity.

With eyes closed shut, first-grader Adriana Wright reaches into a bag and tries to correctly guess what item she is touching. Parent volunteers including Stephanie Sandarciero (left) filled the bags with items such as a sock, pencil and tinfoil.
