A sweet way to meet: JFK and King Street schools hold ice cream socials for new kindergarteners
September 5, 2019 at 7:13 a.m.
While her mother and new teacher get to know each other at the King Street Elementary School kindergarten Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, Sept. 4, Grandview Avenue resident Mia Discepolo is way too preoccupied with her chocolate and vanilla ice cream to chat.
While goofing around on the John F. Kennedy upper building playground during the kindergarten Ice Cream Social on Tuesday, Sept. 3, William Street resident Katherine Duchimaza (left) races Summit Avenue resident Jack Zlabinger down the slide.
To get the sugar rush out, Nariah Jones flies high on the John F. Kennedy swing set, with helpful pushes from her mother Yolanda Thomas, a Weber Drive resident.
Fawcett Street resident Iliana Rodriguez, a John F. Kennedy School kindergartener, tries to avoid a brain freeze as she takes a big bite into her Jim’s Ice Cream Truck treat.
In her pretty white dress, Grandview Avenue resident Shailene Fernandez leads a group of other ice cream yielding John F. Kennedy School kindergarteners around a balancing obstacle on the playground.
A true multi-tasker, Linden Street resident Luke Petriello gently rocks on a King Street playground swing while finishing off his strawberry ice cream cup.
Akhaila Jacob (left) and Kennedy Gomez are clearly starting off their first year at King Street School as good buddies.
Even though grandma Joann is holding his hand, JJ Ciraco is nervous about meeting his new King Street School teacher Lindsay Renda.
