Meals lovingly prepared and gratefully received
November 25, 2020 at 5:05 a.m.
Mike Carpinello, who works for the Port Chester Housing Authority, passes an early Thanksgiving dinner with turkey and all the fixings to Helen Delany at the Terrace Avenue senior apartments on Saturday, Nov. 21. Preparation and delivery of the meals were accomplished by the longtime volunteer group Corporate Outreach aided in this pandemic year by volunteers from other organizations.

This was the organization’s 34th year providing pre-Thanksgiving warmth to senior citizens in Port Chester. They also delivered to seniors who signed up at the Port Chester Housing Authority owned and operated building on Drew Street.
Terrace Avenue resident Moin Chen gives a thumbs up after accepting her turkey dinner from Major Samuel Alarcon from the White Plains Salvation Army where the turkeys were cooked and meals apportioned into containers. Food was donated this year by La Fontaine in Somers and the Tarrytown Marriott, with executive chef Michael Devlin going in on his own to cook even though the hotel’s kitchen is not really open. “Each of the 34 years there is something different, and this year it is the pandemic,” said Ray Francis of Somers, who has been coordinating the operation for many years.
