58,000 pounds of food delivered to Port Chester
October 1, 2020 at 3:00 a.m.
South Salem residents Tatiana Salerno and her son Luke put in a hard day’s work as they jointly carry a box stuffed with fresh produce and food across the Kohl’s Shopping Center parking lot on Wednesday, Sept. 23. Through a USDA grant and collaboration with The Garden of Eden Foundation, Sudano’s Produce and 4MYCITY, Precision Concierge of New York has been distributing food across New York. The Port Chester Police Department teamed up with the organization to bring 58,000 pounds of food to the Village for food pantries, churches and families to utilize.
Port Chester Police Officer Michael Sprague smiles as he and others fill a Neighbor to Neighbor truck with boxes stuffed with produce, a gallon of milk, eggs and a chicken amongst other edible items.
Several palettes of food line the parking lot adjacent to Westy Self Storage as volunteers prepare to help individuals and families load the boxes into their trucks.
Port Chester Police Officer Nick Stella hauls two boxes of food, each weighing 50 pounds, and places them into the back of a pickup truck. Stella worked with former Mount Vernon police colleague and PCNY volunteer Paul Puccini to bring the initiative to the Village.
Port Chester Trustee Luis Marino provides a helping hand to volunteers and the Port Chester Police Department as they load individuals’ and organizations’ trucks with fresh produce.
