Holiday parade welcomes Santa to Port Chester
December 16, 2021 at 10:08 a.m.
After picking out her Christmas present at Port Chester’s holiday parade and festival in Lyon Park on Sunday, Dec. 12, Park Avenue School kindergartener Allison Garcia shares some secrets with Santa Claus (who poses as Charlie Sacco during the rest of the year).
As the parade kicks off, turning the corner from Upland Street to King Street, Port Chester resident Jaclyn Godoy and her 3-year-old son Leo embrace the high energy and enjoy the holidays tunes.
With appropriately wrapped instruments, the Pride of Port Chester drumline gives spectators the gift of beats as they lead the band down King Street. In front, from the left: junior Matthew Vintimilla, senior Mark Scocchera, senior Harrison Calloway and junior Tommy Borzoni.
With the family adorned in holiday-themed face masks, Purdy Avenue resident Yaniva Hernandez pulls out a cell phone to commemorate the fun day with her three sons: Junior, 12, and José, 21, who carries 6-year-old Anthony on his shoulders.
Taking advantage of having one of the best views in Lyon Park, 1-year-old Barrett Lane resident Maggie Hartnett’s eyes light up as she watches Santa take the stage from atop her father Tim’s shoulders.
Port Chester’s Santos sisters are clearly enamored by Santa Claus (sometimes known as Charlie Sacco) when they get a moment to meet him in person. From the left: Alison, 7, Sofia, 3, and Keyri, 10.
John F. Kennedy Elementary School fourth-grader Damien Ephraim tests out the available soccer balls before choosing the perfect one for his present.
The lack of snow that weekend was made up for by the abundance of bubbles! Children dance around a bubble machine while parents mingle and snag a few photos.
Corpus Christi-Holy Rosary School students cozy up with warm coats and Santa hats as they exhibit school pride in the holiday procession.
Victor Chavez and his 2-year-old daughter Lucy, New York City residents visiting family in Port Chester, dance to the music and wave as the parade passes them by.
Making a spectacular entrance, Santa Claus pulls up to Lyon Park in style—riding in a Port Chester Fire Department engine.
Santa Claus is taking his conversation with Port Chester resident Nefertari Rodriguez, 3, very seriously.
