Port Chester Concerts in the Park continue through early August
July 22, 2021 at 4:52 a.m.
A gathering of people forms a distanced half circle around the Showmobile stage at Lyon Park on Friday, July 16. Onlookers sit in lawn chairs, some donning blankets on the cool summer night. This is the first time since COVID-19 struck that the concert series, sponsored by the Port Chester Recreation Department, has operated.
The summer Concerts in the Park series opened last Friday, July 16, with The Julie Corbalis Band performing at Lyon Park from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The concerts are open to the public and food trucks are parked onsite. They are canceled in the event of rain.
Port Chester resident Julie Corbalis takes a high note on one of the band’s final covers, Ben King’s “Stand By Me.” The show began at 7:30, though it was nearly rained out. Corbalis and her bandmates, known as The Julie Corbalis Band, immediately began playing once they were given the green light.
