Goza brings joy to Lyon Park with first concert of the season
July 14, 2022 at 6:21 a.m.
Goza, a Latin band based in Hartford, Conn., performs at Lyon Park for the first installment of the Port Chester Entertainment Committee’s Concerts in the Park series this summer on Friday, July 8. The band’s repertoire includes music and dance rhythms from Latin America, Brazil and Spain.
Delilah Lora (left), Jacqueline Arez, Luis Arez and Pedro Urena watch Goza’s bongo player, a relative of theirs, perform. The group traveled from the Bronx to see the concert last Friday.
Making the short trek with her family to see the show from her Maple Place home, 1-year-old Crystal Ochoa dances to the performance, supported by her father Juan, while her mother Alejandra laughs.
Goza concert-goers line up at the two food trucks, Latusion and The Perfect Mix, which serve Peruvian and Cuban food, respectively.
Brenda Delpezo, co-owner of The Perfect Mix food truck, smiles as she speaks with customers stopping for a quick bite to eat as they watch Goza perform. Delpezo and her husband own and operate Latusion and The Perfect Mix, the latter which serves Cuban-style sandwiches.
Jeff Johnson (left), Jim Ferreira, Jackie Ferreira, Laura Fraser and Linda Kavanagh picnic as they enjoy the show. Johnson and Fraser visited from Washington State, while the Ferreiras are from Greenwich, Conn., and Kavanagh is from Stamford, Conn.
Goza band members jam out as the sun sets on Lyon Park, serenading attendees and the surrounding neighborhood with their Latin-style tunes.
