Sipping on tea at a doll-themed party
February 16, 2023 at 6:07 a.m.
Park Avenue School first-grader Ariel Jimenez and her companion Ariela peek through the window of the life-size American Girl Doll box set up at the Girl Scout House in Lyon Park during the annual “My Doll and Me Tea” fundraiser hosted by the Port Chester/Rye Brook Girl Scouts on Sunday, Feb. 5.
After mixing in all the proper fixings, Park Avenue School first-grader Piper Webber eyes the camera as she sips the perfect cup of tea.
After snacking on baked goods and drinking herbal refreshments, a group of girls gather around the fireplace for crafts, making yarn wrapped hearts that were used to decorate the Girl Scout House.
The glow of an iPad illuminates Park Avenue School first-grader Dalia Delakas’s face as her engrossed eyes fixate on robot coding during the Techno Teams, a Girl Scout robotics club, demonstration.
Showing off their coding abilities, Park Avenue School fourth-grader Amelia Zuccarelli, Park Avenue School second-grader Mia Carranza and King Street School fourth-grader Emma Ramos send control messages to a robot with an iPad.
Volunteering at the party, Port Chester High School senior Jenna Provenzano poses for a photo with Park Avenue School first-graders Michaela Lopez (left), Hope Camacho, Piper Webber and Gabriella Giordano around the American Girl Doll box. As a senior, Provenzano is one of the Scouts who will benefit from a scholarship financed by the fundraiser.
Leona Salzman-Deis, a 4-year-old Port Chester Schools Universal Pre-K program student, cozies up in a chair by the fireplace to distract herself with a yarn activity while the other tea party attendees play bingo.
So close! Valentina Castellano (right) gets amped up when she realizes she’s just a few spaces away from winning as she plays bingo next to Julietta Stone. The Ridge Street School fourth-graders positioned their American Girl dolls, Courtney and Samantha, behind them so they could also catch up over tea like old friends.
Making memories with some mother-daughter bonding, Mamaroneck resident Anita Casey and her 6-year-old daughter Lucy sit side-by-side to work on a yarn craft together.
Young ladies giggle, scream and scoot away when the robot coded during the Techno Teams demonstration starts moving on the floor as if it has a mind of its own.
Giada Lio, 4, and her mother Sara Morabito, Port Chester residents, fuel up on baked goods and get ready to take on bingo as a power pair.
