Suspect in Yonkers shooting found and arrested in P.C.

After an alleged shooting occurred in Yonkers, law enforcement officials tracked down the alleged perpetrator to a home in Port Chester on Tuesday, Nov. 14.
He allegedly shot a man who was sitting in his car in Yonkers. According to Port Chester Police Captain Charles Nielsen, the man, who was not identified, had an address in Port Chester that was put under surveillance. He was eventually taken into custody by the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.
The Journal News reported that the victim was a 27-year-old off-duty New York City police officer. Additionally, after being shot in the left arm, he drove himself to St. John’s Hospital in Yonkers and was treated for his injuries.
As a precaution, the Port Chester Police Department requested that the Port Chester School District delay dismissal to keep children off the streets during the search.
After the person of interest was arrested, his custody was transferred to the Yonkers Police Department.
