Community to join Lafayette Day celebrations this weekend to honor the legacy of French-born ally of the Founding Fathers

The Marquis de Lafayette reenactor will stop at William James Memorial Park for Lafayette Day on Sunday, Aug. 18, where various local government representatives will bid him farewell as he leaves New York, mimicking what happened 200 years ago during his final tour of the country. The Frenchman, who played a key role in the American Revolution, will be honored across the nation for the next 13 months to commemorate the anniversary.
