Three-out-of-towners were arrested in the last two weeks for theft and criminal possession of stolen property.

*After receiving a call reporting a larceny, Port Chester police officers went to the Stop & Shop at 25 Waterfront Pl. on Wednesday, Aug. 21.

When they arrived at 2:52 p.m., an employee alleged Dan Saldana had left the store without paying for $150 worth of packaged meat.

Police claim to have spotted the 38-year-old, who was known to them due to previous encounters, as he made his way back into the store while they drove onto the premises. Officers searched the store and found him after he’d allegedly hidden the meat in a display.

After his arrest, it was discovered he’d previously been served a no trespass letter.

The Greenwich, Conn. man was charged with burglary in the third degree, a felony.

*A New Rochelle man was arrested on Thursday, Aug. 22, after he allegedly stole $230 worth of merchandise from the Walgreens at 107 N. Main St.

According to the police report, through the store’s security cameras, an employee saw the man stash several items into a bag before leaving the store without paying. Police claim an officer who had received the description of the suspect spotted a man who fit the bill on Willett Avenue while driving to the scene.

After Albert Popola was detained at 3:24 p.m., a store employee allegedly identified him as the thief.

The 54-year-old was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

*Port Chester police arrested a Freeport, N.Y. man on Aug. 17 after he was allegedly found in a stolen car.

According to the police report, officers were informed through the Real Time Crime Center that a white Toyota Highlander, which had been stolen in the Bronx, was detected in the Village at 1:30 p.m. Officers performed a traffic stop on Midland Avenue, and the driver, Aragon Burgess, was arrested.

When the 19-year-old was being transported to the Westchester County Department of Corrections on Friday, Aug. 23, officers stopped the van on North Main Street out of concern for his safety.

Police claim Burgess attempted to harm himself using straps that had been used to restrain him. Once taken outside of the van, he allegedly became agitated. Burgess allegedly attempted to spit at a bystander and hit an officer in the eye.

Burgess was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree, a felony, and obstruction of governmental administration in the second degree, a misdemeanor. Additionally, he was charged with harassment in the second degree, a violation.
