American Airlines now flies non-stop from White Plains (HPN) to Miami, Florida’s International Airport (MIA).

The daily trip started without fanfare Nov. 5 and, since it is classified as a “seasonal” operation, will end May 5, 2025.

American’s online app shows the daily flight leaving at 6:00 a.m. and arriving at 9:20 a.m., while the return daily flight leaves Miami at 8:01 p.m. and is scheduled to land at HPN at 11:29 p.m.

Until now, the only other option local travelers had to fly nonstop to the Miami area was on the “private charter” airline JSX, which flies out of HPN’s private terminals to the Opa Locka Executive Airport in Miami.

That route is currently being flown by JSX while a Federal Court order banning the flight is being appealed. A Westchester County lawsuit claiming JSX was violating the County’s Terminal Use Agreement by selling the public tickets to a flight with more than nine seats that was not leaving from the Main Terminal was successful at the District Court level.

The American Airlines flight has the advantage of not only being locally legal but connecting with American’s international flight network out of Miami that serves the Caribbean, Central, and South America, thus enabling local travelers to avoid the time, traffic, and expense of traveling to JFK for similar flights.
