Dispute ends in shatters

A 30-year-old was arrested after an allegedly violent fight outside of St. Peter’s Church on Westchester Avenue got the Port Chester police called on Thursday, July 11.

When officers arrived on scene at 6:51 p.m., a group of men directed them to the victim. According to the police report, he was covered in blood and had a shirt wrapped around his head to cover the wound. EMS were called, and he was ultimately transferred to the Westchester Medical Center for treatment.

The suspect, Joel Reyes Lopez, had allegedly approached the victim to assert he had a problem with him. The police claim the situation escalated, ending in the man picking up a broken beer bottle and stabbing the wounded victim in the forehead.

The 49 Oak St. resident was charged with assault in the second degree, a felony, and menacing in the second degree, a misdemeanor.
