Two out-of-towners charged

Last week, two out-of-towners were arrested for drunk driving and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
*Rye Brook police officers arrested a White Plains resident after he allegedly drunkenly crashed his car into a utility pole on Saturday, July 27.
According to Rye Brook Police Lieutenant J. Arnold, officers arrived at the corner of Westchester Avenue and South Ridge Street at 1:20 a.m. to find Adrian Palma-Aguilar asleep at the wheel with the car against the pole. When the police woke the 28-year-old up, a routine license check allegedly revealed his learner’s permit had been suspended in 2021 due to a prior drunk driving incident.
Palma-Aguilar allegedly performed poorly on standardized field sobriety tests and was arrested. His blood alcohol content was revealed to be .18%, over double the legal limit of .08%.
Palma-Aguilar was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction, a felony, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.
*While patrolling South Ridge Street, a Rye Brook police officer allegedly spotted a car with illegally tinted windows as the driver pulled out of Washington Park Plaza on Sunday, July 28.
A traffic stop was initiated at 10:31 a.m.
According to Rye Brook Police Lieutenant J. Arnold, the driver, Mohammed Basheer, was discovered to have a suspended license during the routine background check.
While investigating the 21-year-old’s car, the officer allegedly observed it had an expired inspection sticker.
The White Plains resident was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, and received infractions for driving with an expired inspection and having illegally tinted windows.
