Reports of a driver leaving the scene of an accident led a Port Chester police officer to Smith Street to search for a black Acura on Sunday, June 2.
On the way, the officer allegedly spotted the suspected car turn onto William Street without the use of a turn signal or stopping for the stop sign at the intersection.
According to the police report, the officer activated their emergency lights and siren to pull the vehicle over, but Ariana Alvarado continued to drive, running another stop sign onto Pearl Street. The officer approached the 30-year-old’s car after she stopped for the red light approaching Boston Post Road at 8:56 p.m.
An officer allegedly found a bottle of tequila in Alvarado’s car and asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. Police claim Alvarado became uncooperative and refused to partake in the examinations or a chemical test and was arrested.
A background check allegedly revealed her learner’s permit had been suspended in 2022 and she had an interlock device restriction.
The Acura Alvarado was driving was not registered to her nor did it have an interlock device, according to the police report.
The 10 Armett St. resident was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, a felony, and driving while intoxicated, circumventing an interlock device and leaving the scene of an accident, all misdemeanors. She also received infractions for the beforementioned traffic violations.
