Delta Airlines, which on Nov. 10 decided to compete with JetBlue out of Westchester County Airport (HPN) by flying once daily nonstop flights to both Orlando and West Palm Beach in Florida, is ending the experiment on May 6.

The move, first reported by Zach Griff on the aviation-oriented website The Points Guy, said Delta was dropping the flights because they “weren’t performing well enough to warrant another operating season.”

JetBlue operates successful service to both Florida locations, as well as other Florida markets, out of HPN.

Added Griff: “Perhaps Delta couldn’t disrupt JetBlue’s dominance in the market or found a better use for the Boeing 717 that it flew from Westchester County. We don’t know for certain because Delta declined to provide a statement to TPG.”
