Two out-of-towners charged

Last week, two out-of-towners were arrested for shoplifting.
*On Thursday, Mar. 21, a manager of the Stop & Shop at 25 Waterfront Pl. called the Port Chester police after spotting a woman he alleged had previously stolen from the store.
According to the police report, the manager told officers Shannon Ortega entered the store and filled a cart with $1,250 worth of various merchandise. As officers spoke with the employee, the 42-year-old woman allegedly exited the store without attempting to pay for the goods.
Officers arrested the Valhalla resident at 6:15 p.m. and she was charged with grand larceny, a felony.
*An employee of the DSW at 429 Boston Post Rd. called Port Chester police on Friday, Mar. 22 to report an alleged theft.
When officers arrived at 5:24 p.m., the caller provided officers with a picture of the suspect taken before they arrived. The man allegedly stole three pairs of running shoes, valued at $250.
A nearby Rye police officer spotted the suspect, Tristan Cragg, on Boston Post Road near Cedar Street. The officer allegedly discovered three pairs of sneakers in the 28-year-old’s possession, and he was detained.
Cragg was identified as the alleged thief by the DSW employee who snapped his picture, and he was arrested. The New Paltz resident was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.
